The Future of LTE

imgresThe big question is did LTE live up to the hype. Well I can tell you that as I was writing this my internet went out. I quickly turned on the hot spot on my iphone 5 and used the LTE network to power my internet once again. It’s honestly the first time i’ve ever used it. I was really surprised how quickly it ran in comparison to my broadband. It’s great to know that if my internet goes out I can quickly gain immediate access through my phone and the quick LTE network.

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. The network is said to be at least 10x faster than 3G. In general though, 4G LTE would offer speeds of 5Mbps to 12Mbps. If anyone has had a 3G phone then your going to notice a huge difference when you get the new iPhone. I had the iPhone 4 and recently upgraded to the 5. I couldn’t believe the speed when I first tried it out. This is the first time i’ve ever tried the LTE network and I was sincerely blown away. Now it kills me that I didin’t either invest in this technology or do some LTE training so that I could work in that growing field. I can see how this will become the industry standard in years to come. Next year it’s going to be the LTEx or something similar that beats the old LTE x50. Wouldn’t that be something to see? We’re not too far from what Ray Kurzweil calls the Singularity. Basically it’s the point where machines start building themselves and technology starts advancing at an extremely rapid pace. Far beyond our human comprehension. It’s going to be a crazy time to live in when that starts happening. Massive amounts of data sharing and seamless integration with machines will be the future and beyond. If you are the next Ray then you might need some enterprise architecture training. I’m not sure how this post took such a crazy tangent from the LTE network to the singularity. The bottom line is that LTE is the way to go these days if you haven’t converted. It’s super fast and by far the most efficient network available right now.

How Social Media Works

imgres-1People who have something to sale need to know how to use the social media to work for their advantage. Learning how to use the social media means more sales, more customers and an easier way in which to grow your business. Social media develops a two way communication between you as a business owner and the customers you already have and a better chance of obtaining new customers.

One of the best ways for social media to work is to use videos. Videos can be put on the internet on web pages, or on your own web site and also on pages where many people are searching for new things. You do not have to say anything if the pictures you put on your video say it all for you. People who are not connected to the internet can still find out about your business or what you are selling by people who do stay connected to the internet. A video can be put on at any time of the day or night when you are not available. Your video can continue to advertise for you even when you are not there.

People who are new at how social media works there are free online courses that are very detailed that can assist a person in learning all about social media. It takes dedication and work to learn how to advertise your business or anything else that you want people to know about. Your customers will not be able to find you unless you work at marketing your business by using social media the correct way.

No matter what a person puts on their social media, or how they might advertise on their social media there are going to be people who will not like what you put on there. The point is that no matter how good your marketing strategy is you are not going to be able to please everyone, so it is best to please those that you can and not concern yourself with the rest. We see advertisements all the time all day and all night long about all different kinds of products. Some advertisements annoy us or make us laugh or draw our attention to the product. Much depends on how the advertisement has been put together as to how we react to it.

I Got Pulled Over! :(

imgres-1Aggghh what a nightmare. So I was out and about on a usual Friday night and I got together with a bunch of friends. We went to dinner as we usually do and went to our favorite sushi place. It’s off wilshire in los angeles right in the heart of santa monica. The place has a line out the door usually and it’s always a lot of fun. We always go crazy and drink way too much sake every time we go. Especially since they have such good deals on the alcohol. We finished dinner and decided to head out to find a bar somewhere close so that we could all hang out a little longer. We went to a swanky bar on 2nd street and stayed there for a couple hours. I was feeling pretty sober by this point and decided it was ok to drive home. Within 5 minutes of getting on the road I get pulled for god knows why. The cop comes up to the window and asks for ID and registration. I ask why I was pulled over and he said that my tags had expired. I actually had the tags in my car and just hadn’t put them on my license plate yet. Wow am I a freaking idiot. This could really cost me!

I hand everything over and he comes back a few minutes later and asks me if I’ve been drinking. I told the cop that I drank earlier in the night but nothing recently. He asked if I would be willing to take a breathalyzer test and I said yes because honestly I wasn’t that worried. I get out of the car and blow a .09 which is 1 point over the limit. He proceeds to tell me that he can take me to jail or I can call a friend to pick me up. I quickly started thinking of calling a los angeles dui lawyer to bail me out. :) I ended up calling a girl that I knew that lived close by and she came to get me. Thank god she was there to save me because it would have ended up costing me over $10k from what I hear. Some cops are nice and willing to let you off the hook. I wasn’t an asshole to the cop either which helped I’m sure. He probably felt sorry for me to be honest because I was only 1 point over the limit. Either way, lesson learned!

Moving Up in SERPS

imgres-6There are so many ways to move up in the Google rankings these days. The question is which method is the most effective. Google will tell you that content is king, along with a billion other bloggers and content creators. Content isn’t everything, it’s important but it’s not the end all be all. People get so caught up in creating content that they lose focus of how search engines look at your site to identify whether or not you are the authority. So you’re telling me that if I just crank out 500 words a day on my blog that i’ll instantly start ranking for all sorts of keywords? Not even close. The truth is that you need high quality links pointing back to your site. This is the single most important defining characteristic. It seems simple enough though right? Just get some links and point them at your site. Well not all links are the same. In fact the only links that really matter are do-follow links on page with a low amount of links and a pagerank of at least 3 or 4. Get a handful of these thinks and watch your rankings rise. It’s great to have your site optimized for SEO and some social links scattered throughout. Those are important factors but backlinks are the most critical in my opinion. If you don’t believe me then do some experimenting for yourself. Set up 2 different sites and pump out content daily, and the other one build high PR links pointing back to the site and see which one Google notices first. I’ll promise you that it won’t be the content site unless you are breaking a story about how to cure cancer. If you aren’t savvy enough to find these high pr links yourself then look into hiring a los angeles seo company that knows their stuff. If you have the budget then it’s the way to go. If you don’t then you better do your research and find out how to get solid backlinks to your site. It can be the difference between failing and succeeding.
